Any of you ever put a young kid in the back seat? Did you use a car seat or lots of cushions? I have a 4yr old daughter I want to take flying. I've used a car seat before in other planes. I'm pretty sure it'll fit in the Cub.

I flew my granddaughter for the first time in the backseat when she was 5 (she is 8 now) and was that special!! I couldn't get a car seat to fit back there so I just put some kind of small cushion or pillow can't remember exactly. short 20 minute flight.
Here is what she said to me "Poppa I didn't know there was so many houses!" so imagine from a kid's perspective when they never see more than a few houses at a time before. Then to swell my heart she said " Poppa you are so cool you can do anything!" I love kids and their viewpoint they really truely live in the now!
Do it, have fun and smile! It is such a pleasure!

What a darling little pilot! Just perfect!
This is my little girl. Taken last week at work when she came by to visit. She kept pointing everywhere saying, "Daddy, there's a plane!" She saw this one and said, "Daddy, FLOATS! This one is my favorite!"

My first time post, this topic is worth answering. I first took my son in the Super Cub on his own when he was three. It was a very short flight, about 2 minutes and shall we say he was very brave. I used the car seat, the type that you strap the seat into the car/plane and then the child is strapped into the seat. Before that he sat on his mother's knee, he would've been two then.
There was a bit of a break then as I sold that Cub and he was seven before he flew again. By then he was in the booster seat in the car and I used that. I also have a big thick cushion, at least 4 inches thick and use that if I don't use the booster seat. I can't remember for sure but the booster seat was a bit long and interfered with the stick, so I had to separate the base and the back, so I think that is why I use this thick cushion. Now he is eleven and just isn't interested, so enjoy it while you can. If your daughter wants to go, four is not too young. My daughter, now eight has only been with me twice each time just for a circuit. She just isn't too keen.
Cushion or car seat up as high as possible. They need the best view out and need to be able to eyeball you when you look around at them. Make sure you've got the headset fitting right and they can talk to you on the intercom. Remember in a Cub, you often need a good strong voice because the squelch is turned down because of the high ambient noise. You might need to brief them on that.
I remember flying in a Super Cub with my dad when I was five. My sister and I sat on mum's knee in the back and I clambered up front once we were airborne, sat on dad's knee and "flew". Memories like that you don't forget!
Good luck, let us know how you get on!
Cheers,
Andrew.

I have flown my 6 year old daughter in our Carbon Cub. That works well because the rear seat is a sling seat, I could just cinch the straps up higher for her. I also put a seat pad on the seat that added another inch. You could try a kids booster seat, but after you put it in, pull the stick full back to make sure the booster does not impede your elevator contol. It did for me so I immediately threw out that idea.

Never too young. I was flown at five weeks in my moms lap, so was my little brother, in our dads J-3. My kids were all flown at 5-10 weeks in the same Cub. Dad says I rode by myself at 3.5, so did my kids, that was front seat of the J-3. All of my kids have been riding in the CC Cubs since 2006. They are 5,7, & 9 now. Back seat no cushion works fine, that seat allows you to cinch down pretty good. I've put two side by side in there as well. Kids love it when they are brought up around airplanes.
Gonna do some shameless sharing of pictures now:

And this is the real benefit. Eventually they want to try too:

I use one of these: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...ildCushion.php in the back seat when my wife or anyone shorter than 5'9", more or less, is in the back seat. It helps them see out the sides and over the nose. Highly recommend, especially, if air sickness is a potential.

I have always felt the supercub is one thing mankind got right the first time but that there were better materials and methods to build them. CubCrafters products are proof I was right.
Thanks for the replies. I figure I'll take the stick out too if it's a problem. Guess I'll do a dry run of fitting her in the airplane to see what works best.
