Default The new white/silver paint scheme.

The white/silver paint scheme is really nice. Very sharp. Is that going to be offered along with the other color options?

Another question/s: Is the silver primer water-proof? Is anyone experiencing any water leaking into wings? ...or elevator, stabilizer? I think if I went with that scheme I would have the entire top wings in white. Not sure what that does for the 7lb weight savings, maybe down to 5 or 6lbs saved in weight?

The silver that you see on the performance paint scheme is NOT the same silver that is "primer" The first layer silver that goes under everything is poly spray, this is what protects the fabric from UV rays and helps fill the weave a little. The silver that you see when its all done is Poly Tone, a finishing, top coat product that is made to be exposed to the elements. It is available in a wide variety of colors, we just use a silver that happens to be close in color to the poly spray.

You could do the whole plane with poly tone but you wouldn't get the shine like you get with the polyurethane. ( I know, lots of "polys", the first two, poly spray and poly tone are more of a brand name, the last, polyurethane is a type of paint)

OK, just to be clear - the Poly Tone covers the entire airplane and is covered in places in the 'performance' paint schemes by the red or black or what have you. Or do the polyurethanes go directly over the poly spray (let's call it the primer)? I'm a little poly confused. ;-)

If you don't mind a little grunt work Poly-Tone can and will rub out into a very nice satin finish. But it has to be built up a little more to be able to do that. More coats...more weight.

All wings end up with moisture inside time to time due to condensation. Especially when sitting out during campouts and such. Best to have drain holes aft most portion of wing in strategic places. CC aircraft do.

Here is a real basic step by step of only the spraying processes:

Poly Brush (pink) is sprayed and brushed while wet on everything

Poly Spray (silver, "primer" if you will) is sprayed on everything

Poly Tone (in the case of the performance paint scheme its silver but available in a wide variety of colors) is sprayed on everything

Polyurethane is sprayed just on the parts that get red or blue or black or white or yellow (whatever the second color of the performance paint job.)

If there are flames, those get sprayed on top of the polyurethane and then a coat of clear is put on top of the polyurethane that has flames.

Of course this leaves out that some products get more than one coat and any work before spraying or in between coats.

    Hope this is clearer
