Prop Cable bearing end location (Option)

The install manual shows the rod bearing end on the inside of the lever but this position allows the bearing rod end to contact the spring due to its diameter and position above the spring - the picture I have below shows an alternate method that allows a broader clocking position option for the bracket - The question - can this position compromise anything on the control arm? And has anyone tried this?

I have had 2 prop cable failures on my FX-3 and I spent some time trying different governor lever indexing positions and cable adjustments. I was trying to get full governor stop to stop motion with prop cables that had much less motion than the intended 3 inches.

The governor lever is a splined fit to the governor input shaft. The indexing can be changed by half a spline pitch by removing the lever and reversing it. Reversing the lever may give you full range of motion without moving the rod end outside.

I did try the rod end outside the lever but I don't think I liked the cable and rod end alignment. Is should be possible to get stop to stop motion without interference from the spring but it does come close.

BTW - I noticed the position of your throttle cable in your latest image. The standard factory installation takes the throttle cable over the top of the push rod tubes. Did you route yours between the cylinders and the push rod tubes?

The manual - Firewall forward shows it going over top of the two #4 cyl tubes and under the two # 2 cyl tubes - I tried to route it over both cyl tubes but it was never going to reach the bracket on the new style coil bracket - I tried really hard so I went to the manual and it showed exactly as I did it with Adel clamps on tubes to help it stay clear of the tubes and the cylinder. I have the old style coil bracket and hope I don't have to change coils and go to the new bracket. I would not have expected it to change the throttle cable routing so thanks for the advance warning of that.

Before I went under the tubes I figured a modification to extend the new coil bracket - it’s an easy fix just to extend the bracket closer up to the front baffle by about 2”

I would not want to route the cable closer to the cylinders so thanks for that option. Surprising that the coil bracket retrofit instruction (SK-SI006) doesn't seem to mention the requirement to re-route the throttle cable.

Pete - what is the inside scoop on this? Why did CubCrafters decide it was necessary and ok to route the cable under the pushrod tubes?

There are two different length cables at play here, a longer one that can route over the tubes, the shorter one must be routed under the pushrod tubes. Either works fine.
