    Those "outlets" were pretty much non-functioning for looks. No testing was done on their effectiveness but when we tried something similar in our test program they didn't appear to have any useful changes.

    Pete,
    No, it was a customer's S2 equipped with side vents that was just into the yellow with OAT's in the 90's.

    Update on 399CC flying in So Cal w/ high OAT -

    The cowl flaps/gills installation is a must if your flying in warm OAT environments and your plane has shown higher than acceptable oil temperatures readings. I have put over 20 hours of hard flying on the plane since the installation of the cowl flaps/gills including beach and off airport landings and the cowl flaps continue to keep the oil temperature readings in the green with warm OAT.

    Two weeks ago I had the cowl doors added to my S2. Flew on a day where the ambient was 70 (formerly oil temp would be in the 220 range) and the oil temp was 175 with the doors in the winter position. I flew today, ambient temp 40, cover over oil cooler air intake, and the oil temp was 185. Hope it continues to work! This has the temperature in the optimum range!

    I will try to upload a couple pictures. I had the doors painted yellow, and they are not very noticeable. I prefer the yellow.
