    Yes, there is a reason the Garmin includes that secondary stop.
    It shouldn't hit the stop on the servo in normal operations but the stop should be set close, as a secondary backup. Garmin's installation instructions are clear on this.

    Thanks for all the input - I added the stop bracket per Garmin’s instructions - took almost 2 hours to put the two screws in.
