    Default T/O and Landing door/window open

    I know the POH says not too, but do people take off and land with the window/doors open in their CC/SS?

    Yes. I’ve had better luck for some reason with both the door and window open on one side rather than just the window. Keep the speed under 80 and it’ll be fine. I’ve not had the door slam down or anything on landing either. There are a couple areas where placing stick on rubber bumpers will save the paint on your door from some screws.

    I had hydraulic lifting struts attached to my LSA's windows, which strengthened them, added stability, and obviated the need to reach out and operate those silly little clips under the wings. Now flying with a window open is no sweat. Neither is opening or closing either window on the ground or in flight. The windows don't flutter excessively and there is no chance of them slamming into the undersides of the wings. If I elect to take off with a window open I do so under less power.

    I'm trying real hard to attach the parts order and the photo of the finished product but I'm having a great deal of difficulty negotiating this 'attachment' process. Alternatively, I've sent the pictures to the webmaster. Hopefully the webmaster will post them, because I can't. Go to McMaster.com and select 'gas springs'. That's where the parts came from. I have no problem taking off and landing with the window open, as long as I keep the power down. It's just like flying my old J3. If you send me a private email (bpeck1948@aol.com) I will send the pictures.
