Default Engine temps; old style cowl to new

Curious if anyone here with an earlier model CC has gone from the old cowling to new and seen better CHTs. Thinking of making the investment if theres any results.

    Thanks!

Interesting to see any responses as I have a friend with the same question.

Nice paint on the cowling though, would you try to match it up if you went with the newer style cowl?

Perhaps I am missing something, but with the CC-340, wouldn't the plenum determine cooling airflow rather than the cowl?

If I'm not mistaken, early SS had baffles not a plenum. I'm pretty sure my friends SS does not have a plenum. He does complain about higher CHT's but I'm not sure if it's an issue (I don't know how hot).

But you are correct, it's not just the cowl.

The inlets and outlets seem to be larger on newer style which I would imagine would increase airflow regardless of plenum, hoping someone has some real world experience

All factory and kit CC340 installations use a Plenum. So a cowl update would need to include the top and bottom cowl along with all of the plenum/baffle pieces. The mid 2012+ "new" cowling has much bigger inlets, the plenum is redesigned for better air flow and the outlet at the back is improved for exit air. Also, with the updated cowl the firewall forward part of the cabin heat system can be updated with better muffs and larger SCAT and airbox which allows better cabin heat airflow.
