    Question Smart Glide

Has anyone used the new Smart Glide from GARMIN?

Can the G3X in my NXCub be upgraded to include it?

Yes, I have flight tested Smart Glide in my FX-3 and it performed as expected. It is included in any G3X Touch system with current firmware (or any firmware version after Smart Glide was added).

Garmin specifies which systems are compatible with Smart Glide here -

The original G3X system does not seem to be included.

I tried it for the first time this past week in my new FX-3, and I was impressed. Still, there's a lot going on; I intend to practice using it from time to time so it's a help and not a distraction in an emergency. Once I've done some more performance testing, I'll likely tweak the best glide speed and sink rate settings in the configuration.

So does Smart Glide work with the Cubcrafters installed option:

    GARMIN DUAL-AXIS AUTOPILOT
Two Garmin GSA28 Integrated Servos • Garmin GMC-307

    ????

Yes. Due to panel space constraints (with a GNC 355 and GDU 465), I have the GMC 305 rather than the GMC 307. The difference is there's no dedicated heading and altitude knobs on the autopilot head. I'm used to using a GMC 307, and was afraid I'd miss those knobs. I don't miss them at all, since the G3X (GDU 465) provides that functionality.
