A manual UTC offset is available in G3X Touch but I can find no provision for changing time zone in any of the G3X (not Touch) manuals.

Call Garmin support for an answer and, if they don't have one, request a firmware update.

Is the airplane outside and have satellite lock?

I have seen some things like this correct themselves if the airplane hasn't flown in a long time, after the G3X gets connected to the satellites sometimes date/time gets updated.

May or may not be relevant in this case.

When a GDU 465 is first powered it starts its Real Time Clock at the "born on" date and time. For my system that is April 6 2019 at 5 pm local which is April 7 0000 UTC. The RTC increments from that date and time until updated by GPS time.

I don't know if the G3X is similar but I would doubt that this older system includes an RTC that attempts to maintain UTC if the later G3X Touch system does not have that capability.

One explanation for a hour error could be the aircraft is being operated in an Indian reservation in Arizona. A Garmin system will likely assume MST in summer since AZ does not do daylight savings. Problem is that some, if not all, of the reservations do use DST. I have been caught by this when scheduling delivery flights to Tuba City.

I don't doubt the Op's problem is caused by a time zone error but only Garmin would know how they define the time zone boundaries.

the Cub is hangared and was inop for about a year until recently when it has made several short flights, I will check sat lock, with A/C parked outside for a few hours , sounds like this could be an issue
