Well I think I can safely say taking your recommendation and buying a VDC Electronics BatteryMinder model 12248 has eliminated my starting concerns. I am using an Xtreme X2-14 battery and leave the Battery Minder on whenever I leave the Cub. Since I am not able to fly the Carbon Cub every week I was very concerned about the starting issues. Hot starts after a fuel stop was an initial concern. But the combination of the Xtreme X2-14 and the battery minder has never let me down. The battery is now 1 year old and I have about 100 hours of flight time. Hot started after two stops last weekend with excellent results. And when your flights are in Texas in summer, HOT STARTS ARE HOT........John

    Randy -

Do you still recommend the VDC Electronics BatteryMinder model 12248 for the batteries currently being installed on CC? Are the cigarette lighter plugs on the new CC wired directly to the battery so we can use that option for charging?

The aux power receptacle is wired directly to the battery, hot all the time. 5 amp inline fuse located in the battery box.

    Pete -

Many thanks. Is the VDC Electronics BatteryMinder model 12248 still the best game in town?

Yep, haven't seen anything better come along, and yes, the cigarette lighter is wired straight to battery so it can be used that way. You can also connect one of the pigtails that will come with the charger directly to the battery and use the 2-cond SAE plug that the charger comes with.

    Anyone-
What type, make and model battery is a new CC getting as of now? Also would the VDC Electronics BatteryMinder model 12248 still be the correct and good one to get for it? Setting up the hanger for the new machine.
Side question- how is the stand-by ignition battery charged and what type, make and model is it?
    Is this a 12 or 24 volt system/ battery?

    Thank You

    Steve

It appears to be a mistry as to What make and model battery will be installed on my new CC. After asking the dealer , they do not know. They state, "the standard one". So with all due respect What make, type is being installed?
Maybe someone at the factory can answer this simple question?

Steve, it is a sealed lead/acid motorcycle battery, I'll get the exact make/model for you tomorrow.
