I have the XP1 and had the pigtail installed so it makes connecting easy:

Now I have the battery out and will be adding the Odyssey charger pigtail, assuming I can ever get the positive bolt back in

Ordered a new SBS-J16 battery from Aircraft Spruce, it's more expensive and I no free shipping like from Odyssey but supposedly it will be here tomorrow. My current SBS is probably fine but why not replace it just in case since it's already out is my thought and go from there.

I think now with the ELT out and after removing the front fire extinguisher below the front of the seat I have more room.
Mine is similar with two wires. But I leave them attached to the 90 degree connector and just remove the + and - 6mm bolts into the battery when removing the battery. This leaves the multiple wires alone and attached to the 90 degree piece.

I did have another hot wire attached there for a USB type connection at the back side of the seat base (always hot and fused) but I later moved it to the hot side of the master contactor to get it out of the way.

    Dan,

Not sure I follow. I have the bolt and on that bolt are the 90 degree spade from the main power lead, then 4 other spades that stack on that bolt. It was difficult getting the threads started much less getting a tool on the bolt head. Tight space with the carbon fiber design.

The main battery lead terminals are designed to be flat. CubCrafters bends them at 90 deg so they fit the larger battery without needing to change the cable routing. I assume Dan left the terminals flat and used a right angle adapter to make the transition.

When I added the jump pack lead I needed to grind a wrench to reduce its thickness. The added terminal made the difference between being able to get the wrench on the bolt head and not being able to get it on.

Why do you have 5 leads on the positive battery post? With the added jump cable I think I only have 3 which includes the heavy contactor cable. Can you move some, or all, of the small wires to the main contactor terminal?

Edited to add photo showing 3 wires on positive post - main battery lead to contactor, fuse lead for 12 V outlet, jump start lead.

There are two small gauge wires coming from the plane which is for the USB ports and one other, couldn't understand the label. Some 12V source for something, I'll have to check it again.

Then I had the XP1 jumpstarter pigtail installed prior to delivery as I heard it was hard to install. Proven.

Now I'm adding one more pigtail which is for the Odyssey charger Daveembry pointed out in a video he did that supposedly is the one Odyssey wants us to be using on this battery for proper maintaining.

There is enough room on the bolt but I wish I would have just spliced into my XP1 pigtail for the charger pigtail. The problem is as you've noted, getting a tool on the bolt head. Just hard to use my paws to get the thread started.

They should make you install the battery at final build, education would be beneficial on how to do this. Someone has it figured out.

You might ponder how this very special needs battery is being charged when the aircraft is actually being operated.

The XP1 is stored on the tacnet, it's not connected to the pigtail. It's charged via a USB plug at an outlet outside of the plane.

I was referring to the Odyssey main battery.

Yes....the aircraft isn't a charger/maintainer.... it's charging a mostly charged "special" (lol) battery ......not throwing different charge rates at it like some automotive charges might...... You think maybe the manufacturer of the batteries might know a thing or 2 about it Andy ?????

Valid. I got to (had to) learn all about batteries and charging with my motorhome (which also has 1800W of solar on the roof). I understand the different charge phases (bulk, absorb, float) and sulfation and the procedure to handle that (equalization). So yes, your point is valid that I'm not sure the charger in this plane is doing anything good for the health of this battery. And on that note now you're convincing me that I should leave the Odyssey charger connected so that it is actually keeping the battery healthy. Hmmm...
