During a recent oil and filter change the filter checked revealed metal in excess of anything that we had experienced previously. The Engineer put the engine on a 10hr watch with the instructions to change the filter again after that time and again look at the metal particles accumulated in the filter. In addition an oil sample was sent to Blackstone labs for analysis as has been done at every oil change since the aircraft was new.

Some history on this Carbon Cub: CC serial number 194. Total time 750 hours, Run on Phillips XC 20W/50 oil with Cam Guard additive as recommended by Cub Crafters. The oil has been changed regularly at 50hr or less intervals.
Engine Titan CC340 Serial number 00101, according to the engine plate it was manufactured at the ECI facility in San Antonio, Texas.

After the 10 hours the filter was again dissected and found to have again accumulated an abnormal amount of metal flakes. The decision was made to pull number 4 and 3 cylinders to see if anything abnormal could be found. On removing the No 4 cylinder it revealed excessive wear on the camshaft and lifter. See photo

This is disappointing considering the hours the engine has on it, has anyone else out there seen this issue or have any insight as why this may have happened?
