Good point. Dealing with the glide ratio was probably the biggest challenge for me in training with the airplane. I definitely learned not to put flaps down until I’m almost on top of the emergency landing sight! The airplane has an almost helicopter-like glide angle with flaps fully down. Even with flaps up and at Vg, it can be easy to overestimate the glide distance you have available if you’re used to a skyhawk or Cherokee. Gliding the FX3 took some getting used to but after a few days of training, one gets the hang of it. Tac Aero was pretty good about simulating engine failures every day at random times when I wasn’t expecting it.
