I thought hawgdvr had a good point about the community aspect of the site. With the number of CC planes, I'm sure there are some stories out there.
This thread is an opportunity to share your adventures, big and small.

BLM strip last week in the Owyhee's. This week it had snow. The strip is named Mustang due to the wild Mustang horses of the area.

I put the wheel penetration skis on this week. And the pod back on too.

First ski flight for the winter was today. Hoping for a good winter with a lot of snow and cold.

Buddy and I flew all the foothills checking for Elk.
Not a bad weather day for Dec. 24.

I like all things elk; watching them, hunting them, eating elk, seeing them from the air.

Agreed. The Elk are easier to find now as they are moving out of the high elevations. We did see a group of maybe 10 bedded down on that flight.

Four hours of ski flying today. My favorite type of winter fun. +5 degrees when I left home.

Carbon Concepts big straight board skis. They really float on top and turn very well in the snow. I stepped out of the Cub onto the ski and when I stepped off the ski I was within a few inches of my waist in powder. Snowshoes required. 😎

My home field in the Champlain Valley of Vermont is just minutes away from the NY Adirondacks. The Adirondack Park is approximately 18000 square miles of generally uninhabited mostly inhospitable protected beauty. Not being on floats I limit my flying there to the winter months when hundreds of frozen lakes and ponds offer ski equipped planes a playground which is difficult to describe. January 8th the official start of my 2022 ski season began with a 7am take off @-1F and a density altitude of -4000'. I flew 6 miles to Ticonderoga airport for fuel then headed west climbing from 150 feet to 2500 MSL then anywhere between 50 and 1000 AGL winding along over rivers, lakes and through valleys to Speculator NY for breakfast. At Speculator six on skis met then headed west to Twitchell Lake for a cookout at Dave Soules (fly in or boat in only) camp where 13 ski equipt and one wheel plane spent a couple hours telling lies and enjoying each others company. As NYGlenn said while leaving tracks in virgin snow on Indian Lake it was a 9.9 day. Twitchell 2 2022.jpgIMG_2524.jpg
