    Default Catto 3 Bladed Prop

After a year on backorder I just installed the Catto 74X50 3 bladed propeller on my new SS. Made the first flight this morning. Much smoother running. Prop has not been dynamically balanced. It is so smooth, I may not need it.

Need more flights to evaluate the impact on climb performance. On this first flight there was 3 mph increase in IAS cruise speed 44% power, sea level and 65F.

This prop just looks right on the CC SS.

Sweet. Is this a custom or standard prop? I couldn't find it on Catto's web site.

You do need to buy new 3 bladed spinner, comes with new back plate.

Here is old FaceBook post announcing it.

Nice new carbon fiber pattern in the 3 bladed spinner.

They look great I’ve had 3 of them. I have one on my float plane now. Being smooth is not normal so your REALLY lucky on that. Usually spend some time clocking them just to be livable. They all have some weird harmonics that are very uncomfortable to most that’s had them. I know of 5 different cubs and they all have the same experience. 3 of those won’t put them back on except at the contest. They/we use them for STOL competition mostly. I’d don’t recommend them and usually let them fly mine before they buy one. The only reason mines still on there is I lent my 2 blade out.

I talked to Catto about clocking. They said no issues. These Catto 3 bladed props are widely used in the RV series of aircraft.

I have only one flight through a full range of RPM's. Very smooth. My SS has the Continental made Titan X340. Maybe some differences.

Still have my 2 blade if needed but so far so good.
