    Default Catto 3 Bladed Prop

After a year on backorder I just installed the Catto 74X50 3 bladed propeller on my new SS. Made the first flight this morning. Much smoother running. Prop has not been dynamically balanced. It is so smooth, I may not need it.

Need more flights to evaluate the impact on climb performance. On this first flight there was 3 mph increase in IAS cruise speed 44% power, sea level and 65F.

This prop just looks right on the CC SS.

Sweet. Is this a custom or standard prop? I couldn't find it on Catto's web site.

They look great Iíve had 3 of them. I have one on my float plane now. Being smooth is not normal so your REALLY lucky on that. Usually spend some time clocking them just to be livable. They all have some weird harmonics that are very uncomfortable to most thatís had them. I know of 5 different cubs and they all have the same experience. 3 of those wonít put them back on except at the contest. They/we use them for STOL competition mostly. Iíd donít recommend them and usually let them fly mine before they buy one. The only reason mines still on there is I lent my 2 blade out.
    My 2 cents

I talked to Catto about clocking. They said no issues. These Catto 3 bladed props are widely used in the RV series of aircraft.

I have only one flight through a full range of RPM's. Very smooth. My SS has the Continental made Titan X340. Maybe some differences.

Still have my 2 blade if needed but so far so good.

I think itís great yours runs smooth wish mine did. I really surprised you didnít notice any weird vibration. I just figured it was because the 340s arenít internally balanced. My first one for STOL I think it was 74-46 think my current one is 74-48. Not positive. I forgot to tell Sasser when he took mine up once and he came right back thought something was wrong. They really do look cool!
