Default Clean & re-oil air filter?

Have any of you folks cleaned & re-oiled your air filter rather than ordering a new one? I have a kit for doing this from K&N that seems like it should provide satisfactory results. Problems, issues or recommendations?

I know someone who is quite satisfied with cleaning and re-oiling, me I don't like taking the sticky bugger out of the bag. Next year I'm thinking about leaving the plastic on.

I clean and reoil mine. I do not use the K&N products though. I cannot remember which product I use (a lot of research on this before buying a product) but I can find out if you like, I believe it is a Lucas product.

Any particular reason you don’t like the K&N product?

    Thanks for your reply.

Doesn’t work very well. The oil in the K&N recharge kit that I had was much thinner than the thick sticky goop on the stock CC filters. I just bent over & grabbed em and ordered a new filter from CC. Approx $30 for the little piece of foam & $18 shipping.
