    Default FX3 paint considerations

I have an FX3 slot for delivery in about a year.

I realize the paint is a highly personal decision, but I am seeking some input on paint. I have pretty much settled on one of the urethane signature or signature plus schemes.

I am worried about frost accumulation because I live in a cold climate so I'm gravitating toward either green/silver, red/silver, or yellow/silver. Darker colors do better in avoiding/melting frost in the sun, so that's why I'm leaning toward silver. I am also concerned about visibility for avoiding midair collisions (there are usually a few of those in my area every year), which favors bright colors.

I also would be interested in orange/silver but I don't see orange being officially offered by CC.

Normally I would wait to decide, but I ordered a set of Summit Skis and those have to be painted soon.

So, what colors do best for:

    1) Cleanliness/durability
    2) ease of repair/patching
    3) Resale
    4) Aesthetics

Would green/silver look horrible (I don't see any pictures of this so I'm guessing it's not the prettiest)? How about Red/Silver? Is the orange still possible? Any pictures or feedback are appreciated.

    Anything but yellow😂
Orange is definitely available. This green one has silver stripe so you can see the contrast. The other ones a really nice looking airplane (even if 1/2 of it yellow🥺 ) it’s very visible in the air. There all pretty easy to keep clean and durable as far as a fabric airplane goes. Silver wings are hard to see in the air. I’ve sold more red and blue airplanes then anything so that’s what I think for resale. Only thing easy to repair is non metallic silver.
Picking paints the best part of the build to me.

    ‘Chuck,
Thanks chuck, those both look great! I think I might go with orange if they will still do it at the factory for not too much more money. To me it seems like a good blend between visibility and UV absorbability to fight frost, although the silver will make up most of the wing fabric on the factory schemes, as far as I can tell. Plus those are my old college colors and I’m hoping never to have to sell, at least not until this fabric is worn out anyway!

Pat, I'd love to see HD cameras go in to replace the old ones. The color is not great, your pic of the orange cub shows how gorgeous it is.

Gorgeous scheme Schwbo. I'll attach a file I use to watch the cameras. Hope it works. Okay, unzip the zip file and you'll get the HTML file. It refreshes every 10 minutes.

    Otherwise go here:

My $.02 on visibility as I also consider that a priority to help avoid mid-airs.

Obviously yellow is probably the best visibility (yellow leading edges too)

Orange is great I would think

White is probably good as well

Darker colors and dark leading edges will degrade visibility. Consider using your landing lights and/or wig/wag even in the daytime.
