I hope I am not speaking out of school. Sorry if I am. I have #205 and Stan will be putting in new battery box, battery, new starter, new cowling and baffles and new heater system in around Dec 1st. I live in Delano, Mn were it gets mighty cold. I need heater and it needs to start every time. Current battery and heat output is unexceptable for me. I am not complaining but happy to see these changes and seeing Cubcrafters doing due dellagence to make these much needed changes. I love the airplane and will love it more with these updates.
Pete, you might advise what the weight penalty will be, and that anyone with an SLSA will need an MRA. Those with ELSAs should log the installation and do a new W&B.
As Pete indicated more info will be coming, but be advised that this pushes your ELT forward so you'll need to be very careful when tipping the seat forward, the front edge hits the antenna connection.

Has anyone tried the Pulse 4 battery? 500 CA, 3lbs and will drop right into the battery compartment.

That battery looks like a real winner. To bad it's not available.
My X2 is dieing and I hope something better is available before I need to replace it.
The new battery box may be a solution but I don't like the extra weight and the seat interference with the ELT, to say nothing of the cost to buy and install.

That sounds about right.
i called and spoke at length with the owner of the company.
The company sounds very small ( the owner came to the phone right away) but I was very impressed with the "story" he told me about the company. He wants to certify his products for aircraft use and is designing with that in mind. He talks like they are building a high quality product.
When I described our starting problems to him he said he thought the P3 would work. It is about the same specs as an X2 but without as much age drop off and with lower internal resistance which means a higher terminal voltage during start.
The P4 should be much better but it may be slightly too large for our battery box and as you know it will not be available until the first of the year. The P4 size is not yet finalized but should be about the same as an Odyssey PC545 but with the cranking power of an Odyssey 680 - 700 Amps.
It's possible this battery company will have something that will work in our airplanes.
We can always hope.
