    Default AZ fun

Central Arizona is not likely to compete with Montana for snow pictures but we do sometimes get snow on the ground in Phoenix. Our recent storm covered golf courses in Scottsdale and changed the view from Red Creek. The strip had washed out a bit, there was a 10 kt gusty cross wind, and big sink on short final. I suppose if it was easy it wouldn't have the isolation that I enjoy so much.

Great picture! A little snow in January seems appropriate anywhere.

Dang, that looks wonderful. Flew yesterday, scud running, OAT 29, flying thru flurries. But hey, I got to fly. Definitely jealous.

Another AZ place at which to enjoy COVID isolation. 5,300 ft ridge top with density altitude 6,800 ft. No snow here but there still was some on the North facing slopes of the higher peaks.

First departure from this ridge top had a much longer ground roll than I was expecting. Post fight data review showed I had been hit by a 15 kt tail wind gust just after I started to roll. Didn't want to be spooked by the place so went back. This time the wind was in the opposite direction and I made better choices. An uneventful familiarization flight in preparation for the trip to replace the wind sock.

Small rocks, small prop, small tires, and bungee gear but I'm still having fun.

Thanks and yes. That was nearly a year ago and have been back several times since then.

This image is less about the airplane and more about the place.
