    Default What's it for?

So I just asked a really smart EX owner and he didn't know so now I don't feel silly asking.
What is the small diameter hole to the right of the accessory plug used for?

    Ref AFM

    "7.11 MUSIC JACK
An optional music jack may be installed on the aircraft.

    NOTE
When any device is plugged into the music jack, this will
disable all GPS auditory warnings. However, visual
warnings will still be displayed on the GPS screen."

I was not able to find this jack on any FX-3 wiring schematic that I have on file so I don't know what it connects to.

I did a bit more digging and found the music jack in the VFR panel schematics. In the VFR panel configuration this jack connects to the PM3000 intercom as an alternate source to the panel mounted portable GPS. When a plug is inserted the connection to the GPS is broken.

The AFM describes the VFR panel configuration and the G3X is documented as an afterthought in Section 9.1. Unfortunately the G3X supplement does not mention the music jack.

In the VFR panel the music jack is stereo but the only spare GTR 200 audio input is mono. It seems likely that the music jack is wired as an alternate source for GTR 200 stereo music in (pins 19, 18, 37) and that inserting a plug disables audio from GDU 465 stereo audio out (pins 3, 19, and 20).

Locking that in as my final answer.

Andy has the correct answer, it is an alternate music input to the GTR 200.

A picture may be worth more than my words:

    Have a nice day,
Actually I found that schematic to be confusing. The GTR 200 does not exist in the VFR panel and the panel mount GPS does not exist in the G3X panel. Shouldn't GDU 465 be shown instead of GPS for the G3X configuration?

You already stated the G3X specific answer.

My intent was for any other person who searches for music jack wiring that this thread would be useful as a generic example. Avionics installation manuals can be gleaned for pinout information. I was clarifying the connections to the music jack. Please use the example if useful, or disregard if confusing.

    Have a nice day,

I have used it to listen to the Bible Scriptures on a long cross country, as opposed to you who will now turn on the headbanging rock from your iphone and we will try to figure out what is going on in the cockpit of 0M

I'm really missing having a second COM radio. GTR 200 Mon function is quite nice but if ATC never stops talking it's hard the get the destination ATIS. I shall probably use the "music" jack for a hand held COM radio until I get a second COM permanently installed.
