I went back to the spot I did a touch and go on a few weeks ago, and thought I'd give it another try. The FX-3
is just an incredible airplane, even at altitude.

That’s a long way up there. Very nice. Did you notice what your ground speed was at touchdown?
Looks like you’re using 2 notches of flap for takeoff. That’s what I like too.

My last recollection was a TAS of 56, and a GS of 50. It's always a choice between a stronger headwind to slow you down,
and light winds to lesson the chance of a downdraft on the leeward side.
I was only at 25% power on short final, and you have over 50% available for a go-around, but trying to touchdown on the uphill side is still concerning at that altitude. With a density altitude of 14,400', I knew the takeoff would be quite a bit longer, but heading downhill with two notches of flaps made it pretty uneventful. The only concern was making sure I got off before the bigger bumps at the bottom of the 'runway'. Those would have ruined my day. Things that looks small during a flyover, are much bigger when you are walking the area after touchdown.
Definitely a cool place to fly, though.

The video reminded me of a little flat spot I landed this spring. Not as high and it was colder too.
Touchdown speed in the mid 40s. But no braking with the snow. Tailwind takeoff.
