Pete, you don't mention Aerocet's above - not applicable? I'm installing a set now on a new EX-2, and haven't seen mention of a ventral fin.

    Thanks,

Check the drawing package or with Mitch. I can't recall off the top of my head if Aerocets need the ventral. If they are the 1500 Amphib they may not, they are much smaller floats than Claymars or Wipaire.

Yup, 1500’s and nothing shown in the drawing list.

    Thanks!

Ventral fins are butt ugly and limit where you can beach your aircraft heel first. It's difficult enough without the fin to pull your tail in even on a beach with a steep bank, add shoreline brush and rocks and your never going to play or camp where you want with a bottom fin. I would check the flight stability before adding one

Guys Ventral fin on bottom of fuse was used on the Sport Cub CC11 with Baumans and is part of the drawing. There is none noted for the CC11-160 or CCK with 180HP on Aerocets. There is one however for the Top Cub, CCX EX/FX3 and the XCub with either Claymar or Whips. I have experience with all of these recently.

The only potential issue Cubdrvr2 notes is beaching, and that only an issue if the terrain is tail high.
