    Default Corrosion proofing

Just received the EX-2 wing kit... very excited. The most important goals are to get it done and to not over-engineer the project.
i spent 20 years working on Boeings and Airbus where EVERYTHING was chromated and corrosion proofed in some way.
my question is how many of you builders out there are corrosion proofing your kits?
    thanks, Dewey.

Are you going to put the plane on floats? If yes, then salt or freshwater.

    Cityrancher,
thanks for the response, the plane will not be on floats... but that sounds like fun someday.
im 64 now so as long as it outlasts me that's ok.
flew my C-182 over the wallowas many years ago...that's near you isn't it?

    Robert,

In our opinion the aluminum wing components don't need corrosion protection, especially where you are. I'd be surprised to see that other than for salt water service. We're on the coast where corrosion can be a problem, but we've never seen any problems in the wing. We're building our EX3 wings right now and have no plans to do anything special to them.

Thanks John... that's the answer I was expecting.

I primed all the skins with self etching primer. Just the inside. Only did it because it was easy to do.

Just getting started on wing kit and considering enhanced corrosion protection. It appears most builders are not doing that, but wondering what products are being used by those whose are.

    Thanks for any suggestion.

    Phil,
also just started my wing kit in May.
considered corrosion proofing but then decided not to .... the plane will outlast me without it.
one option I considered was D-5029NS corrosion inhibiting compound made by zipchem.
we used it a lot at the airlines and it is approved by Boeing.
The other is the green epoxy primer listed in the stitts poly fiber book.
many, many other home builders when asked what they would do differently if building again said to me "I wouldn't corrosion proof... too time consuming".

Thanks, Dewey. I gotta admit, I would like to just start putting it together.
