Hi John,
I first saw the TK-1 Shock up at the High Sierra Fly-In. It seemed that EVERY cub had installed this shock. I was anxious to give them a try. The AOSS shocks on my Carbon Cub were ok, but they bounced a lot. All of the pilots at the fly-in praised the TK-1's and their ability to soak up energy on landing (no rebound).
The TK-1's have been installed on my CC for about a month now and I'm very impressed. They do a great job and perform as advertised. One of their key features is that they can be adjusted (with Nitrogen) to do exactly what you want and need. If you like to drop in like a helicopter, you set them up one way. There is an easy procedure to get them set up for your particular plane and weight.
The shock section works on Nitrogen (above) and the dampening is controlled by oil. Definitely not an 'air shock.'
It will be fun to have you and Ben fly my plane and compare to the Acme's. TK-1 is based up in Sacramento, so you might want to visit the factory if in the hood.
It's a shame you did not get those. That was a great price.

Chip, here are the Acme Aerofab shocks. These are prototypes. Same cost as AOSS. Much better performance. Call us for details.

They look great! Is the housing actually carbon fiber, or just painted to look that way? I would like to put a pair of them on my next Carbon Cub. Thanks for posting the pics.

What does it look like with one shock fully deflated. Is there a spring inside?
Yes, Mitch, spring/oil dampened/nitrogen charged.
They definitely look cool!!
