Default Carbon Cub with wing slats

Cruising YouTube I found two videos apparently demonstrating initial testing of a Carbon Cub with wings modified with slats. So far I cannot find any other information about who is doing this work. Looks very interesting. Hard to gauge the wind in the videos but the airplane is obviously stalling at a much higher AOA than a CC with the stock wing.

Anyone have further information? Videos published March of 2016.

    Here is the first video.

Just for comparison there is a new LSA Cub variant the Zlin Shock Cub just introduced in April 2016 in Europe that is using carbon fiber passive leading edge slats.

Here is a video showing a test flight of the Shock Cub's leading edge slats.

Here is a video uploaded just a month ago with close up:

Here is a screen shot from the video showing the remarkable angle of attack achieved with the slats on the CC. The aircraft is registered to an LLC in Joplin, Mo but so far I can't find any conversion business associated with that name. The few close ups of the slat modification look very well done.

Owner Name is Frank. They were in LLano @ TX STOl Contest. He and his pilot I believe his name was Rob were flying it in the contest. Talked to him awhile. He is pulling a 84" three blade prop, motor has been tricked out has trouble keeping it cool. I saw the video awhile ago. I told him it looks like it takes awhile for him to get off the ground asked if he thought the slats actually cause some extra drag. I think Rob said it cruises in the 80s. Installation looks first class.

I was watching the takeoff's. Without knowing the wind it is hard to tell. But with the slats down and low AOA taking off it makes sense that at best slats probably don't help much. They sure see to make a big difference with high AOA landings and it must be fun doing slow turns and maneuvering aloft, though the let down from a high AOA landing looks a little tough on the gear.

Yea. I had really considered getting them for my one CC. But after seeing them in action I don't think I will. A stock carbon cub lands just as short or shorter than with them, they do have a small advantage over a obstacle. I think it would be fun to fly though.

How did the slated CC do in the Texas STOL competition? Given the work need to modify the airplane it must of been disappointing if he could not beat other CC's.

Wow, this is serious aeronautical stuff.

The plane and the pilots both did very well. He got second in traditional STOL and they got 2nd and 3rd over the obstacle.
