What a great event, even if I didn't realize it was a "Builders" application and not "Customer" appreciation event unit I got there and saw the name tags, guess it pays to read the post card in its entirety. Was great to get a chance to meet other builders and hear how their builds are progressing along. I apologize for having to scoot out so soon, but night Ops out of an daytime use only unlit grass strip wouldn't impress the neighbors.
It was very humbling to hear all the great comments from my fellow builders as well as the CC staff about my build. As you all know too well, as builders we cannot help but see all our flaws in the aircraft we build...thanks.
I know that my aircraft would not be what it is today without the expertise, guidance, knowledge and motivation provided by Mitch Travis. That guy knows these planes inside and out. Part numbers, page numbers and the tips and tricks that allow all of us to succeed. As a first time aircraft builder it was great to know he was always only a phone call away.
Since N9PW's first flight on October 24, 2015 we now have flown over 110hrs and no issues whatsoever and didn't expect any.
Having grown up in FL I spent Saturday exploring my old stomping ground from 100AGL and landing here and there to enjoy the peace, quiet and alligators.
So not being a SnF on Saturday I did not find out until I was speaking with Mitch last night that N9PW actually won "Best Fabric Homebuilt" at SnF!
What a great way to wrap up the trip!
To all the builders out there, keep building and as much fun as the build is, it's nothing compared to flying it!
