Why is everyone having this issue? The breather tube sounds to be to small? You don't have to do this in other lycoming aircraft. I think I will plan for a change if I can when I get to that point in my build. If that plugs and you blow the seal it will ruin your day.

The breather tube exits thru the center of the exhaust collector, it's the temperature of the exhaust that is cooking the oil entrained in the breather. That's what needs to be cleaned out periodically.

I am assuming CubCrafters designed it in this manner to eliminate the oily belly syndrome...

The breather tub is connected to the top of the exhaust collector and is wonderful since it burns off the crap that comes out, Rather than splatter and run all over the belly. It's a great system for keeping the belly clean! Since the
oil does tend to Coke up a bit in the metal tube where it is attached to the hot exhaust collector a simple clean about every 50 hrs is the answer. It's two minutes of simple maintenance compared to hours of belly cleaning and drips. I don't know that "other" engines have this nice system?

Got it. It connects direct to the exhaust and not dripping on it?. The coking makes sense then. It sounds like a good system, And cleaning is easy. Hope everyone knows to clean it.

Another solution. Don't know how much room you have under the cowl, but I empty it at oil changes.

Sounds like you should use a .44 caliber brush on a gun cleaning rod.
You can buy one at any sporting goods store or on Amazon.

Carl, check out Service Instruction 00023 (SI00023). Really good description with photos. I've been using a brass tube brush available in many different lengths and diameters from several industrial supply houses. If you google it you will find many sources. Sounds like the .44 cal gun brush works just fine also.
