Default O-340 Max Fuel Flow @ WOT

Okay so I am curious as to what owners are seeing as a max fuel flow at wide open throttle? So during initial climb out. Does anyone know what the design max fuel flow rate is for the O-340?

Pete, Titan quote 62 liters per hour or in your terms 16.3 GPH at max rpm

Thanks for the replay Bruce, do you have fuel flow transducer on EX 041? If so what flow readings do you see at max rpm?

What readings did you get during your fuel flow testing?

Pete, I will give you ff at initial climb ( usually 2450 rpm) and full throttle level flight (2500 to 2600 rpm) after my next flight on the weekend, 3 days time here.

For the fuel flow test I first fitted a red cube FF transducer and could only get 80 lph (21 GPH) I then found the red cube is for low wing aircraft with fuel pumps eg RV's, so I fitted a gold cube and got 96 LPH (25.26GPH) which achieved 150%
of the Titan stated 62 LPH (16.3 GPH) the gold cube is designed for high wing gravity flow systems.

Hope this helps, I will get back to you after the next flight

    Bruce-

Thanks for the info. What pitch attitude did you lift the plane up to when you got 25.26GPH? I too have the gold cube transducer installed.

    Thanks,

I jacked the front up to about 15 degrees and measured the flow at the disconnected line to the carby

How did you hold the fuel line? Did you put the 180 bend in it and hold it up to the carb inet height?

I simply disconnected at the carby and put the end of the line over a jug and turned the fuel cock on for one minute
then measured the quantity, I repeated this four times and averaged results

    Pete,
I got up a day earlier than I anticipated, the fuel flow at WOT and full rich take off 2500 rpm 47 lph (12.4 gph) 75_- 80 mph, cruise full throttle full rich 2650 rpm 47.5 lph (12.5 gph ) Catto 80" X 50" prop

I checked mine today at WOT - full rich - 2700 RPM and the flow is 13.5 GPH. The prop is the Catto 80x50 and the fuel flow was measured with the EI Gold Cube.
