Default Standard acceptable Oil Temp for a C C

With a vernatherm we were running an Oil Temp of 165-170 through our early running in period, but now with 50 odd hours up we are lucky to get over 145 @ 2400 rpm on a 65 Deg F day.
Question; what are the acceptable running parameter Temps ??

Thats been almost exactly my experience. At about 65 hours my temps are stable at 148 to 150, regardless of OAT ranging between 60 to 90, cruising at 2100 to 2200 rpm.

Paul try setting the power at 2350 and fly around and see what oil temp you get. If you get 180- 200 your ok. I have half of my oil cooler covered up. At 2350 I show 183 oat 75.

Anyone know if Garmin G3X or Dynon Skyview can present engine Temperatures in Metric units/Degrees Celsius?
Are the engine pressures presented only in pounds per square inch (psi) ?

Section 31.4.12 of the G3X install manual talks about the different configurable units settings. Metric units are available including temps in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Fluid pressure and volume are available as well as baro pressure.

Section 3 of the Skyview manual talks about a configurable "Measurement Units" page in system setup but I can't find where it lists the specific configurables. While I am less experienced with the Skyview, I'm certain metric units are an option. I believe it has fluid pressure and volume, plus baro as well.

The Carbon Cub has an excess of oil cooling capacity. To Ev's point, it is common practice to cover a portion of the oil cooler inlet side with foil tape. Recommend you sneak up on it a bit at a time. I'd start by covering a third of it. You may well wind up with half or more covered, depending on your climate.

Jon, I thought most of our oil temperature "issues" (hot or cold) were resolved when we started putting the Vernatherm on every engine. My last two demos have run oil temperatures right at 165-180 degrees (although I guess I can see a possible issue if the ambient temperature is particularly cool).

Chip, there's no question the situation was drastically improved with the addition of the vernatherm. However, it appears that some airplanes still run on the cool side, particularly in colder climates.

I've got 15 hrs and haven't seen over 160F. Going to foil part of the oil cooler and see if I can get up to 180-190. Seems like it should be running at 200 once up to temp. What I don't understand is with the vernatherm shouldn't it be bypassing cooler until vernatherm opens up?
