Probably a question for Pete. Has any body removed the 696 in executive panel and installed a 796? My 696 has a couple issues and I thought about upgrading if possible.
Thanks Chuck

I don't recall seeing that done before but it would probably be doable.
I would start by measuring the panel area and measuring the panel dock from Airgizmos. The dimensions should be on the manufacturer's web sites. There is two ways you could install the GPS. With the panel dock or with out. If you have the room I would recommend the dock. It makes it easier to remove the GPS for updates and has a mechanism that allows access to the power button on the side when it is installed. If there is not room for the panel dock you can install the 796 with the bracket that comes from Garmin and make a trim plate around it. This method would take up less panel space but you would have to reach up under the panel to release it and you wouldn't have access to the power button when it is installed. Access to the power button is nice because you can adjust the screen brightness easily and can turn the GPS on/off without having to turn on the master if you want to program way points in etc.
Cub Crafters Services may have done this already, they could give you a quote if you were considering having it done here. Give Stan a call.
