EI uses a new style connector, the old push together type is notorious for problems.

Checked connectors they were very tight, hard to pull apart.
Installed new connectors and new sending unit.
    Works perfectly.
Called EI and they said out of warranty but they would bench test, they also said they doubt the unit is bad.
    ??????????????

Usually I find a problem with the crimp between the connector and the wire. Sometimes just cutting off all of the connectors (one at a time), re-stripping and crimping new connectors on the harness and transducer pigtail solves the problem.

You could get the new style connectors from EI they are hollow and have a set screw that holds the two wires together.
