Default Service Bulletin 28 Rev A. Released

Service Bulletin 00028 applies to CC11-160 Carbon Cub S/Ns 00294-00331, EXCEPT 303, 317, 323, 325-331. SB00028 Revision A relates to the static system installed on this airframe.

Due to the current location of the static port, the airspeed indicator error may exceed tolerance of ASTM F2245-12d. This service bulletin requires the relocation of the static port from inside the cockpit under the instrument panel to the exterior of the aircraft in two static ports on either side of the fuselage. Compliance is due within 50 hours or at the next annual condition inspection report, whichever occurs first.

This is a revised version of the Service Bulletin. Due to errors found with certain panel configurations, the static ports have been moved to the upper boot cowl.

    Victoria,

Why doesn't this SB apply to earlier serial numbers, that have the static port under the panel as well?

    Good morning,

The reason the static port was moved is to comply the ASTM standard F2245-12d. Earlier serial numbers complied with earlier revisions of the ASTM standard, and therefore are not required to comply with this SB.

    Hope this helps!

Gotcha. If I wanted to do the SB on my older serial, is that possible (currently S-LSA) or does it require an MRA?

At this time yes, a MRA would be required. If a Service Instruction (not mandatory) was created for earlier serial numbers, a MRA would not be required. I am currently investigating this avenue.
