I've heard of some builders installing their ELTs at the airbag attachment bracket. I was thinking of doing the same, can anyone give an explanation of the install?

Thanks EV, Looks like I just need to build an adapter plate.

My understanding is that the ELT will not fit under the seat with the new battery box. Where is CC mounting the ELT in factory built airplanes?
MR
The Kanad ELT will fit in the seatbase with any battery combination. Kanad is the ELT that is used by the factory. There are builders that are using the longer ELT's and mounting them further back in the fuselage.
Here is the Artex ELT in position with the battery box mod in place. There are no clearance issues in front with plenty of stick room in the full-back position.
It could be that the new seat base is different enough it won't work. As i said mine is the original seat base with the modification kit to accept the Odyssey battery.

Dan, if you slide the seat all the way forward and then tip it forward doesn't it hit the connections on the ELT? That is why we switched to the Kannad ELT, it's shorter.

Randy, it might in that position. Whenever I've needed to be working under the seat to service the battery area I pull the seat all of the way off. So it isn't an issue then and it's much easier to work in there. But you're probably right about interference with the front of the seat and ELT then.

Just installed mine today on the FX3 on these brackets. Had to file down some ribs on the ELT plastic to avoid screwheads but otherwise it went right in after drilling new holes. Screws that came with the Artex threaded right into the existing brackets after drilling two more holes and over-sizing them slightly to match the existing ones.
Here is my setup.
I mounted the Artex to the Amsafe inflator bracket that comes welded in place from the factory. It fit great. I redrilled the Artex mounting plate and had to grind away a bit of the Artex plastic reinforcing ribs where the mounting bolt heads are.
I put the remote switch in the L header panel and the buzzer under the instrument panel.
