Don't believe applicable to avstar carb?
The insert kit is applicable to all carbs. It is a modification to the intake tube in the sump only and does not require anything to be changed in the carb.
You must be thinking of the nozzle kit for Marvel carburetors. According to Marvel, that can only be installed in a Marvel carburetor, but there are rumors of them having been installed in AvStars by an experimental aircraft owner. We have no data regarding the results of that "experiment".

David,
I have had confirmation from Eric Weaver of Avstar carburetors that their engineering dept. is working a new fuel nozzle for the Avstar carb. for the CC340 engine, but as yet there is no time frame. Meanwhile we with Avstar carbs would like to know more about the Marvel fuel nozzle "Experiment" in an Avstar if you can find out more.
I will finish fitting the S10031 sump insert today and will report on any changes to the CHT's and EGT's

I had put the sump insert in a sump with an Avstar carb. works great like I had said. A mechanic told me the inside of an Avstar carb. is exactly like a Marvel carb. and the Marvel jet works as well in the Avstar as it does in the Marvel.

I have just flown with the new sump insert and it appears that the spread of CHT's has dropped from around 70 degrees to around 50 deg.
THE EGT's spread also have dropped from about 200 deg. to around 150 deg. The engine also appears to run a little smoother, but that may be wishful thinking. I have an Avstar carb. no new nozzle yet.
for the record the temps were
#1 cyl CHT 338 EGT 1311
#2 cyl CHT 379 EGT 1260
#3 cyl CHT 335 EGT 1409
#4 cyl CHT 392 EGT 1348
OAT 68 deg 2450 rpm

Do you recall what altitude you were flying at and what your fuel flow was?
What's a quick way to tell witch carb you have?

If it is a gold color, it is a Marvel.
If it is a gray color, it is Avstar.
