Just a heads up, 7AK got her 5 minutes of fame on the Discovery channel's gold Rush show last Friday. We filmed all day (12 hrs) in Phoenix last spring doing many different things. The episode is call Frozen North and is season 4 episode 4 and is about 10 minutes into the episode after the Yukon. Its about Dakota Fred anmd his son Dustin. It will be shown several times for awhile

The Gold Rush show is Discovery's most popular show and reach 5 million viewer and 75 countries.

Too bad the narrator called it a "Super Cub"... would have been nice to educate them on what they were actually flying.....

Hmm, clearly he needs a Carbon Cub. The 300 foot runway shouldn't be a problem.

You are absolutely correct a Carbon Cub would be a far better match! We were going to bring a Carbon Cub to Alaska for filming but timing was all off with the weather etc.

At the same time when this filming was done in AZ, 7AK was up against some very unfavorable conditions, high density altitude (in the 90s), unfavorable winds, first timer Dakota Fred in the front seat to pull the flaps and say when and so on. Remember 7AK won a STOL contest in the regional super cub flyin in WA state in 2010 in a 55' takeoff under completely different conditions!

The first takeoff and landing were intentially over-run to create drama, the second takeoff and landing were easily within the cones.

Show business! Interesting business but to do 12 hours of filming for 5 minutes of fame........
