the more anti-vibration insulation the better! For the smooth fiberglass airplanes, vibration does not
seem to be any real problem, and using the suction cup at ANY location appears to work well and is
fast, easy and clean on a friends airplane. Using the gaff tape for added safety leaves no residue, and
a boogie leash or safety wire is easy. We flew up to 145 mph with the suction mount, safety tape rig many
times with no problems on metal and fiberglass machines. ( P.S. using Duct or masking tapes leaves crappy residue! )
Good advice! You do have to be careful how many rubber washers are used, not to mention avoiding peach pits. My first try had about ten total washers made from an inner tube. It wobbled badly at low RPMs. Inner tube rubber is not well dampened. Two to four total washers works OK at most power levels. Of course, the nut can be tightened or loosened to adjust the compliance, changing the resonance frequency. I've been thinking about how to add a damping mechanism.

This is promising- I used some thicker foam rubber and first tests were good for vibration. Will report back when we can fly again.

    Steve -

Happy birthday Steve. Thanks for the recon work with the UAV and carbon cub. Hopefully you will be coming out for the Olympics next month. Do you think you can bring that UAV for some interesting video during the event?

Here red is our response to the Cal Cubs challenge.

Having good luck with the CLOUDBASE GoPro mount (Sold in the CC Store). Tried a new {SRP Blurfix Air ND8/CP } filter
today to see how the prop looked. This is both an ND8 and Polarizer filter. Judge for yourself. Shot with GoPro Hero3+ Black. 1080p@60fps.

That is looking very good Steve. How far out on the strut do you mount the Cloudbase? There is no video breakup on the first takeoff, and just a little on the second. Better than any of my mounts have done.

ND8 is very close and probably not worth going darker. I'm not a fan of polaroid filters for this kind of video; you don't have any control, and they can make the sky too dark.

Steve it appears that you would not be able to use the housing for the go pro. How are you mounting while using the filter?

    Hey Steve,

I really like this video. It looks like a lot of fun. Thank you so much for being my number one advocate of my camera mount. Your the best.

    Take care,

    Marc

J2: You may use the "Frame" mount, which allows one to either use the GoPro with or without the AUX back-
pack battery or LCD Back. ( I use this with aux battery and a WiFi remote). In which case you use the small
Light weight push-on filters (with tension o-rings) that go directly over the lens. Or you can use full waterproof
housing for GoPro with either a screw-on or clip-on filter set. (Also available from this company, mainly for the
scuba diver). Using the "CloudBase" mount, either the Frame or the Waterproof case may be used, since both
use the standard GoPro camera mounting.

CHARLES: Strut Mounting: I mounted my camera (using CloudBase mount) just Inboard of the Virtical brace on
the forward strut. Seems to work about the best for me, but I have no real answer as to what's best.
