    Default Spark Plug Longevity

After 300 hours TT we are only averaging 50hrs between plug changes. Anybody getting better - and if so what kind of plug?

Iridium plugs are now standard equipment on all factory Carbon Cub SS for the last year and a half or two years.

Bob, you should be able to get 400 hrs or so out of the Iridium plugs.

I happened to just check mine. No measurable wear at 60 hours.

Curious if anyone has been using the Autolight XS4063DP iridium plug in the O-340? Pricing is in the $7-$8 range. Same specs as the NGK BR8ECMIX iridium plugs.

I bought a set of these Autolite iridium plugs for $7.49 each (including shipping) from NAPA online. I didn’t get them installed until this past weekend and made a flight today to test them. Everything seemed normal. I’ll check them when I do my Condition Inspection in January.

They’re longer overall but have the same thread reach.

I changed the spark plug/coil leads too. I had just about 500 hours on the previous set and my experience says don’t go longer than that or some misses will soon develop.

The old iridium plugs had about 300 hours on them and were due too.
