Folks, I don't want to drift this thread (see topic) but as Royce pointed out indeed we are seeing cooler CHTs from the CGR30 as well. We have been working diligently behind the scenes for some time now with not only E.I., but our three other engine instrument suppliers, to resolve the discrepancy. Yes, a TSO is a fairly rigorous standard, but hiding behind it by saying "it's TSO'd, therefore is has to be accurate" is dangerous and I'm not buying that line.
We have several issues across several of our aircraft that we need accurate CHT data for and have been on this pretty hard for quite a few months now. As of this writing we don't have an answer but are learning more about all the nuances of CHT instrumentation than we ever wanted to know. As soon as we can explain the discrepancy we will let our owners know what we found.

Just for fun today on a long cross country I decided to check my CHT & IAS at different RPM settings and different FF settings. I did all the test at the same altitude and the OAT remained constant. I started at each RPM setting the way I normally lean the engine. Set my RPM, lean until my RPM starts to drop, increase FF 1 or 2 clicks to regain RPM and engine is running smoothly. For subsequent FF adjustments I just added about .3 to .5 gpm to see where the readings ended up. After each adjustment I allowed time for all readings to stabilize.
Altitude = 4,800 MSL
OAT = 65 deg F

I do not like to run my engine over 380 deg F for extended periods so I only did the initial test at 2400 RPM.
