Personal record for flight leg in CC11-160
Flying back from the AOPA Summit on Sunday I set a "personal best" record for a flight leg in a Carbon Cub. We flew from Auburn CA (KAUN) to Bend OR (KBDN): 361 sm, 3.5 hours, and had 5.2 gallons left. Flew most of the leg at 10,500' and 2250 rpm with the fuel computer reading 5.2 gph and about 115 mph TAS (as displayed on the Dynon). I believe that computes to around 20 mpg. Yes, we had some help, a slight tailwind component most of the way, but not dramatic. My previous best was 347 miles and I don't remember how much fuel I had left but it was less than 5 gal. Just goes to show you what the Carbon Cub can do when operated in "eco-cruise" mode. This was with standard tanks.
I think our new Marketing Manager, John Whitish, is writing a trip recap which will appear in the next newsletter. BTW, he is taking over the newsletter with the next issue and I think you'll see a bit more content in each issue. If you don't subscribe HERE is where you can sign up.
