Some scenes from my Sport Cubbing in northern Idaho last week. No extreme backcountry this time, just some pretty scenery around Coeur d'Alene Lake and an idyllic private grass strip.

GoPro Hero 2. For the through-the-windshield shots the camera was mounted as shown below. The red thing is an inch-long section of garden hose, to protect the surface of the frame tube and to dampen vibration to the camera.



For the exterior shots the camera was clamped to the entry step on the right MLG.

I prefer being down low too, but on this day there was a strong west wind that made it rough near the surface. So I was flying the Gorge at 2,500 - 3,000 to stay in smoother air.

Once out from under the clouds I climbed up to 9,500 and enjoyed a brisk tailwind, along with some up-and-down mountain wave action in the lee of the Cascades. This (119 kts) is the highest number I've ever seen on my Cub's GPS in level flight:



I paid for it, though, over the Gorge on the way home four days later, barely eking out a mile a minute. Glad I refueled at Richland.
