    Default EarthX Battery

I'm thinking of changing over to the EarthX Battery (ETX24C). They have been using Lithium Iron Phosphate for a few years now with no problems. The weight, CCA, and recharge times are very tempting and several Pilot friends have been using them and are very pleased (those are not Carbon Cub friends).

Does anyone have any current thoughts on the EarthX Batteries? I suppose I have to stick with the 40 amp model ETX24C.

Does anyone know if the 36c will fit in the smaller original battery box? I'm not at home so I can't measure. Web site lists the C model as 5.9 x 3.4 x 4.5.

I wanted to use the ETX36, but I did not, I used the ETX24. I went with the ETX24 because EarthX advised me "If you have a 40 amp alternator or smaller, you can choose the ETX24 series". Seeing that Carbon Cubs have a 40 amp alternator I chose the ETX24.

However, since then, friends have told me that I could have used the ETX36.
That battery is made for an alternator that puts out 60 amps. They say it will work because the system won't allow it to "over-amp".

I don't know if that's true or not but i wish I had tried. The ETX24 works OK but it is not as stellar as I had hoped. The 24 has around 220 CCA and the 36 has 405CCA.

I'd be anxious to hear others opinion about using the 60amp ETX36.

Really look forward to hearing about your experience with this battery. You may recall I have been one of the early adopters of lithium IRON batterys. I spent quite some time with them at Sun & Fun and sounds like they have their act together including not necessary to have a special charger now as the cell balancer is built in so proof will be in the starting experience so all please post whay you find. May be a good solution here. Best Gary

So far no problems, but have only done around 10 starts since installation. Cranks very well, even with my legacy starter.

I just bought one and will report when I have it installed.
on another note, Batteries + has dropped the X2 line of batteries and now sell Duracell motorsports batteries.
they swear they are as good as the X2s.
anyone have any experience with the Duracell battery in a CarbonCub?

Yes they are exactly the same battery just labeled differently. They were and are still made by Deka who also makes the Harley Batterys and they thought the Duracell label would sell better than X-2. Best Gary
