    Default Garmin GDU 375

A software update (version 2.6) is available for the GDU 375. To determine which version your unit has, just turn it on and watch along the bottom of the screen. The version number will flash by as the unit loads. If anyone needs assistance with how to update, just let me know. Thanks!

Becky, that was a lot of info there but still don't get the difference as they seem to be the same? Is the G3X components of GDU 375 and the GD375 the a complete system? Are they both non-TSO?

The GDU 370/375 is part of the G3X "kit" or "suite" (all non-TSO'd). (The 375 is a step up from the 370 in that it includes XM weather capability.) This allows you to buy the 370/375 and add the other components later. Here's some info I found:

"To make the G3X, Garmin took the GDU (370/375) panel display and added the GSU 73 ADAHRS module. In fact, it’s more than just a set of accelerometers and pitot/static sensors: The GSU 73 is also the hub of the system’s engine monitoring capabilities. The G3X also makes use of a remote-mount magnetometer and OAT probe." http://www.kitplanes.com/news/news/8921-1.phtml

"In the future, the GDU 375 will accommodate not only MFD capability, but flight and engine instruments as well. With the purchase of additional hardware, your MFD will also become a Primary Flight Display (PFD) providing attitude/directional guidance with ADAHRS+Engine monitoring. These additional components are scheduled to be available in the second half of 2009. Up to three interlinked displays can be supported in a full Garmin G3X retrofit suite, with reversionary capability for added safety.
GDU 375: It’s the starter kit for your G3X glass cockpit." http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...ges/gdu375.php

Another way to look at it, the GDU 375 is the panel mount version of the GPSMAP 696.

Yes, they were released in September. The G3X "LRU Kit" includes the GSU 73 (ADAHRS+EIS Unit), the GMU 44 (Magnetometer Unit), and the GTP 59 (Air temp probe). When you buy these components with an installation kit, it's priced at $7800.

Could you eliminate the Dynon FlightDEK-D180 EFIS & EMS utilizing the G3X kit? The link you provided had engine info displayed.

    Thank you,
    Sean

    Sean,

Sorry, we can't substitute instruments like that, it is a VERY involved process with a production line aircraft. When the G3X was announced we received a flurry of interest. In fact our current Executive Glass panel with the D180 and Garmin GDU375 (panel mount version of the 696) displays more data to the pilot simultaniously over more screen real estate, and it costs less and is already engineered. Once you take the time to think through a typical flight and what data you need to see I think you'll find that our current panel does a great job of maximizing the pilot's SA (situational awareness). The fuel computer on the Dynon is superior as well as a whole host of other small things such as wind direction display, real time true airspeed, and others.
