Skis on Carbon Cub EX #1
Carbon Cub EX #1 just got a new set of Summit Aircraft Skis installed last weekend. Here are some of the pictures that I got. This is a bolt on installation, there are no tabs welded to the gear legs. Carbon Cubs look so good on skis.

That looks like fun! Might have to try ski flying one of these days.

Do they make a tail ski to go with it? I'm not a ski pilot, does one need a tail ski?

I've rarely seen tail skiis. When I have they're on much heavier airplanes.

I've got a Burl's tailski on my EX. Not necessary in a tail-light Cub but the bennefits are easier turning on ground and keeping tail feathers out of snow in the deep stuff. EX 1 looks great on skis. Where is it?

I believe that plane is located in the Jackson Hole Wy/Driggs Id area.

Re: Skis on Carbon Cub EX #1
This is my first response to the forum, but I have really enjoyed following the many threads. I will take delivery of my new CC in April. I plan to install Summit skis and am wondering if these are the LSA or the 2300s. I have been told that I should get the longer skis. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Skis on Carbon Cub EX #1
John,
Those are the 2300s. The 2300s are 79 inches long, making them 10 inches longer than the LSA model. The LSA skis will handle the same gross weight as the 2300s but won't offer as much floatation in the deeper snow. So if you think you might get into deep snow then by all means go with the 2300 size.
The 2300s weigh about 23 pounds per ski including mounting brackets and rigging, and it is a bolt on installation, no welding required.

Mike
What is the weight difference between the long ski and the short ski?
Thanks
