Me arriving home in Martinsburg, WV.

My recent trip East went like this:

Left Yakima on July 28. Stopped for fuel at LGD, MYL IDA and RIW the first day. Spent the night at RIW sleeping on the ground near the airport.

On July 29 stopped for fuel at DGW, VTN, SUX, and IOW. Spent the night at IOW in the FBO on a couch.

On July 30 stopped for fuel at IWH and MGW. Made it to my home airport, MRB, around 4pm.

Was a wonderful trip, a great adventure with great weather the whole way East. Even taught myself to land in stiff crosswinds along the way! It took me 23 hours flight time averaging 5gph!
What was your altitude through the mountains?

Anyone flown east lately? Did the rain/snow this week improve the visibility? I drove from Kalispell to Anaconda last week and the smoke was really bad. I want to pick up my plane Wednesday or Thursday (if it's out of the shop) and fly it to my new hangar in New Richmond, WI.

One of the TFRs by MSO went away I noticed today.

    Any updates would be appreciated.

I live in NW Montana and yes, the fire situation has improved a lot in the last 4 days. But there are still active big fires putting out smoke and many TFRs. Some fires even got snow. The forecast is for rain starting tonight and lasting on and off for the rest of the week. A week from now I think most of these fires will have been put to bed for good.

Here is a pic from this morning.

It is a bit out of focus but gives you an idea of the remaining smoke. And I saw worse smoke in the Flathead and Mission valleys from 8500'.
