    Default RIP Pete Vinton

    RIP Pete...

Flying will never be the same without you in my airspace.

But those who hope in the LORD
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Very sorry to hear this! Deepest and sincerest condolences to Pete's family.

Pete, be sure to look up my son, Shaun.

    Norm

    FLYER'S PRAYER

When this life I'm in is done,
And at the gates I stand,
My hope is that I answer all
    His questions on command.

I doubt He'll ask me of my fame,

Or all the things I knew,

Instead He'll ask of rainbows sent

    On rainy days I flew.

The hours logged, the status reached,

    The ratings will not matter,

He'll ask me if I saw the rays

And how He made them scatter.

Or what about the droplets clear,

    I spread across your screen?

And did you see the twinkling eyes,

    Of student pilots keen?

The way your heart jumped in your chest,

    That special solo day -

Did you take time to thank the ones

    Who fell along the way?

    Remember how the runway lights

    Looked one night long ago

When you were lost and found your way,

And how - you still don't know?

How fast, how far, how much, how high?

He'll ask me not these things

But did I take the time to watch

    The moonbeams wash my wings?

And did you see the patchwork fields

    And mountains I did mold,

The mirrored lakes and velvet hills,

    Of these did I behold?

The wind he flung along my wings,

    On final almost stalled,

And did I know it was His name,

    That I so fearfully called?

And when the goals are reached at last,

    When all the flying's done,

I'll answer Him with no regret -

    Indeed, I had some fun.

So when these things are asked of me,

And I can reach no higher,

My prayer this day - His hand extends

    To welcome home a Flyer.

For those that may not know, Pete Vinton was a partner in Rocky Mountain Cubs, our dealer for the mountain states. From all of us at CubCrafters, blue skies forever Pete, here is how we will remember you...

I never got the chance to meet Pete even though I spent the last 7 years living just south of him. My loss for sure. Everyone here in Colorado has nothing but great memories of him. He is surely missed. Blue skies Pete. Thanks for your service and thanks for having such an impact in aviation along the Front Range.

Damn this is a tough deal....Sure hope we find out what happen...It is still very hard to believe Pete is gone forever!

I lost another friend this week, Art Lazzarini, a Idaho back country instructor with
Lori McNichols he also wrote the aviation book " COWS BLOW GRASS" somehow crashed in the Midwest in bad weather with an bad altimeter...don't know details there yet either...Two very experienced pilots gone in the same week...sure makes a guy think!

Here are some pics of Pete by Jessica Ambats, editor of Plane & Pilot magazine and a professional photographer as well. They flew together in a CC cub in May, 2010.

The first picture is of Jessica and Pete together.

Thanks for posting that Norm. On a side note, did you finish a book of Shaun's photos for publishing?

Shaun's best friend, a pro photographer, has been working on it in his spare time and is about finished.

I did find one newspaper account - Pete Vinton was instructing a student...immediately after take off the plane stalled and 'cork-screwed' to the earth, killing both of them.
