    Default question of the week..S2 best Glide

    POH states best glide speed is 68 mph without flaps and 49 mph with full flaps for an S2. Vy is 71mph and Vx is 50mph.

    Why is the no flap best glide and Vy nearly the same speed? Same with why is full flap best glide and Vx nearly the same? Is there a relationship there?

    I think it must come down to the best Angle-of-Attack with flaps or without.
    Flaps change the cord line. So it's probably no coincidence that the speed numbers are similar between powered and un-powered wings.
