    Default Lycoming 233 Engine

What's the latest on the Lycoming 233? - 100hp, lightweight alternative to the Rotax 912.

Is it to be fuel injected? When is the roll-out?

Though it was originally intended to be fuel injected they have dropped that and reverted to a carburetor, not sure why. It is therefore now called the O-233. We have been waiting for years for this engine and still no sign of it. We will evaluate it when it is released.

They are taking 'orders' now. Sounds like a shinnied down O-235. Yawn.

Lycoming says that they are committed to the LSA market, but talk is cheap.

Why not send them a message and offer the Rotax 912 as an option for the S2? Lycoming is nothing but a foster child for Textron. (They make their real money elsewhere)

I'm from Detroit and an automotive family from both my grandfathers. Engine engineers here use the same CAD software. Detroit can design, prototype and test a new and more complicated engine in 4-6 months. NEW, as in, from scratch!

    Textron is a joke.

What would be the advantage of using the Lycoming 100 hp engine over the Continental
100 hp that is currently used on the S2?

Renegade is making an LSA called Falcon 2.0 which has the O-233 and it is flying now.

Folks: If you can go E-LSA, I can't recommend enough biting the bullet and sending your engine to Bart at Aerosport for the performance package. I am convinced that I'm getting over 120 hp from my engine now and it is running cooler (I believe simply because it is faster and more cooling air is moving), more efficiently, and smoother. Better in all respects and with no increase in weight. Bart fixes all the geometry problems built into the engines by TCM....sad but true. The higher compression pistons know how to deal with 100 LL unlike the 7.5 : 1 pistons which come stock. R
