Question Cargo Pods: CubCrafters vs. Carbon Concepts

    Hello,

I have a FX3 on order and I'm trying to decide on the cargo pod and whether to get the one from CubCrafters vs. Carbon Concepts. I'd appreciate any comparisons, pictures, carrying capacity, ease of use to remove/reinstall, etc. The price is about $2K different but I'd like to do this right and do it once.

    Thank you.

    Take a look here

I have the Carbon Concepts pod and it has served me well. I picked it up at Randy’s shop in 2017 when I flew my CC to Alaska.

Thanks, good read. I'd love to see the CubCrafters cargo pod and details such as how much it carries, weight capacity it can hold, etc. if anyone has info to share.

Have owned/used the CubCrafters (LewAero) pod for a few seasons now. I don't have the specifics of weight and carrying capacity on hand but can locate once at the hangar. It can't be more than 12-15 pounds. Fit and finish is superb. Fit and attachment to Carbon Cub is about as clean and easy as I can imagine. But definitely smaller than Carbon Concepts in volume. Door is a bit smaller as well and a bit limiting for loading.

I have the LewAero one that Cubcrafters source. It uses the same mould as their 30 USG fuel pod which means there is a sump for the fuel pick-up which serves no purpose in a cargo pod but does not detract from it. Fit and finish are very good.

I think the hatch opening is smaller than the Carbon Concepts, so it would be very difficult to stow fuel bags in there.

I think you get a better deal ordering direct from Lew Aero rather than going through CC.
