    Default Fuel flow

    Hello Aviators,
Any experience or insight into the integrity and useful life of the Garmin G3X fuel flow probe?
I may have one failing on a FX2 with 300 hrs of fun on it.

    appreciate your knowledge,
    Mike

Don't know for sure what sensor is used but the G3X Touch installation manual references EI FT-60 as being compatible. Specification for this sensor includes "Life Expectancy: 10,000 Hrs. Min."

I would suspect a wiring issue would be more likely than a sensor failure. What are the symptoms and what does the recorded fuel pressure and fuel flow data indicate? A comparison of pre-fault and post-fault data may be useful.

    Andy,
Loss of % power and gph on G3X display. Intermittent occurance when operating all regimes. Percent power catches my attention first and slowly decreases then settles at zero accompanied by 0.0 gph. Been through the wire connections, look pretty secure. Would a software update to the G3X be a contibuting factor? Ive been pursuing that also.

Still don't know if this is your sensor but several reports of early failure here:

    Mike,
I installed fuel injection in my EX2 and used the FT-60.
    Mine failed at 35 hours. Just quit - G3X showed 0 gal/hr.
On removal, everything looked great. No obstruction, efforts at cleaning did not help. I returned the unit to Electronics International and they found it defective and sold me another one at a discount. Warranty had expired - they start the timer when purchased not when installed or first flight.
Unit number two is still going strong.
    Good luck!
    David
